 The Mycobacterial Research Lab was established in 1981 and has been fully engaged in cutting edge laboratory research in leprosy in collaboration with international research labs and has yielded more than 100 peer reviewed scientific journals publications. It has been continuously striving to improve the diagnosis and treatment as well as enlarging the current knowledge base about leprosy. Current projects being carried out in Anandaban laboratory includes research to better predict and improve the treatment of leprosy reaction, a simple diagnostic test for leprosy and research into leprosy drug resistance
