Anandaban Hospital has an allocation of 80 beds designated for patients needing treatment for severe leprosy reactions, reconstructive surgery or wound care. As well as referrals from across Nepal the hospital services are accessed through the Out-Patient clinic at Ananadaban, through a weekly leprosy clinic in Patan Hospital and through a specialist skin clinic newly opened in the Satdobado area of Kathmandu. A hospital Counsellor meets with and responds to the needs of individual patients and their family members.
Because of the geography, access to Kathmandu from many parts of Nepal is not easy. TLM Nepal therefore took the decision to make its treatment services available through a monthly satellite clinic in Butwal and a second clinic in Chapur, both situated in the southern part of the Central Region of Nepal. Options for adding three further centres covering the Terai areas of the West, Mid-West and Far-West Regions are under consideration. Occasional surgical camps, organised in co-operation with local Government Health Service providers, create the opportunity to build working relationships and also extend awareness and knowledge of leprosy.
In addition to leprosy-related services, TLM Nepal provides general health care and surgery services through Anandaban Hospital and Patan Clinic.
